Chris and I painted terra cotta suns again this December. We started with these (note the cup of coffee).
Armed with spraypaint, newspaper, hand paints, and masking tape, we decided to strike a pose.
Then, of course, we used these things together. After spraying the dual sun-moon blue and letting it dry, we used newspaper and tape to mask out the moon then spraypainted the whole thing black.
Which, after adding significant handpainting effort, resulted in this:
It was our second sun, after the (maybe?) Mayan one. We had a lot of problems choosing colors because the spray coat dried as a mustard yellow instead of a sunburst yellow, leaving us with palettes of different saturations. With the metallic blue and pearl around the outside hinting at the sky and clouds, the rest of it came together surprisingly.
